Ceramic Cappuccino Cups with Saucers, 12 oz, Set of 4
Ceramic Cappuccino Cups with Saucers, 12 oz, Set of 4
Four white ceramic cups holding 12 oz, each with a saucer. The cup measures 5.31 x 4.13 x 2.55 in and the saucer is 6.22 in across.
Two and a half inches deep is the specification that makes this a cappuccino cup rather than a mug. A wide shallow bowl gives the milk foam a large surface to sit on, which is what holds the microfoam and makes latte art possible; a deep narrow mug collapses it.
A 6.22 in saucer is generously sized for the cup, which is the convention in a café: the extra rim takes a spoon, a sugar sachet and a biscuit without any of them touching the cup.
Plain white is the standard for a reason beyond taste — it is the only colour against which the crema and the foam read true, which is why it is what cafés serve in.
- 2.55 in deep: wide and shallow, so foam holds
- 12 oz: the cappuccino measure
- 6.22 in saucers: room for a spoon, sugar and a biscuit
- Plain white: the only colour foam reads true against
- Set of 4: cups and saucers together
- Ceramic: holds heat better than thin glass
