Disposable Plates
Disposable plates in printed paper, heavyweight plastic and moulded sugarcane fibre, from 6 in dessert sizes up to 10 in dinner plates, in counts from 24 to 100.
Which size do I actually need?
A 9 to 10 in plate is a dinner plate and holds a full meal. A 6 to 7 in plate is for dessert, cake or appetisers. Buying only the large size and using it for everything costs more and leaves food looking sparse.
Paper, plastic or bagasse?
Paper takes the best printed pattern, so it is the one to choose when the table is themed. Heavyweight plastic is the most rigid and will not flex when carried one-handed. Bagasse is the compostable option and the most tolerant of hot, oily food.
Do scalloped and rimmed edges matter?
Only visually, but visibly. A scalloped or gold-rimmed edge is what separates a plate that looks chosen from one that looks bought in a hurry, and it costs very little more.
Does the plate count need to match the guest count exactly?
No, and matching exactly is usually a mistake. Plan on roughly two plates per guest for a meal with a dessert course, and round up to the nearest pack rather than down. That removes the need to find a second identical pack later, which is the situation where a sold-out pattern actually becomes a problem.
