Enamel Camping Mugs, 16.9 oz, Set of 2, Dark Blue
Two enamel mugs on cold-rolled steel, 16.9 oz each, measuring 4 in across and 3.5 in tall, in dark blue.
Enamel is glass fused onto steel, and the combination is why these have been the camping mug for a century: the steel makes them effectively unbreakable and light enough to carry, while the glass surface means they do not hold the taste of yesterday's coffee the way bare metal does.
They also go on a flame. An enamel mug can be set directly on a camp stove or beside a fire to reheat what is in it, which no ceramic mug and no plastic one can do.
At 16.9 oz they take soup and cereal as readily as coffee, which is the other reason they earn space in a pack — one vessel instead of a mug and a bowl. The trade-off is that enamel chips if it is struck hard on a rim, and the steel underneath will then rust at that spot.
- Enamel on steel: unbreakable, and holds no stale taste
- Goes on a flame: reheat on a camp stove, unlike ceramic
- 16.9 oz: coffee, soup or cereal — one vessel
- 4 x 3.5 in: sized to pack
- Set of 2: two people, or one and a spare
- Chips if struck: and the steel will rust at a chip
