A 2 ft lit birch tree carrying twenty-four warm white LEDs, on a 4 x 4 in base, powered by batteries with a button on the base for on, timer and off.

The timer is the part that makes a battery-powered light practical rather than a nuisance. Set to timer, it runs for six hours and then switches itself off for eighteen — so it comes on at the same time each evening for weeks without anyone touching it, and the batteries last a season instead of a fortnight.

Warm white at this size is deliberate. A 2 ft tree is a side-table or mantel piece rather than a room light, and warm white reads as candlelight next to a lamp; cool white would read as a task light and look wrong beside anything else lit.

Battery power means it goes where there is no socket — a windowsill, a hall table, a bathroom shelf — which is most of where a decoration of this size belongs.
