Wooden Pepper Grinder with Ceramic Burr
A ceramic burr rather than a steel one. Ceramic does not corrode, which matters because salt destroys a steel mechanism within a year — this will grind salt as readily as pepper and still work after it.
The grind is adjustable through the nut at the top, from coarse crack down to a fine powder. Coarse for a steak, fine for a sauce, and the same mill does both without being emptied or swapped. The body is solid wood with an antique finish, which is why it can be left on the table rather than put back in a cupboard between meals.
Three heights. The 5 in sits on a table, the 8 in is the everyday kitchen size, and the 10 in is the one that reads as a piece on a counter.
