In an upright holder, napkins flop over each other and can only be reached from one side. This flat caddy lays them in a neat stack instead, so the top napkin is easy to pick up from any direction around the table.
The frame is metal with a gold leaf finish, its low sides made of overlapping arches, with open corners for your fingers and small ball feet underneath. It is about 17 x 17 cm (6.75 x 6.75 in), sized for square paper cocktail and lunch napkins or folded linen ones.
