Bohemian Ceramic Dessert Bowls, Set of 6

Six ceramic dessert bowls carrying bohemian motifs on both the inside and the outside.

Decorating the inside is the choice worth noticing. Most patterned bowls are plain inside, so the decoration disappears the moment food goes in; a bowl patterned inside stays interesting while it is being eaten from, and it is still worth looking at when it is empty on the table.

Six different motifs rather than six of the same makes the set read as collected. Each guest gets a bowl that is visibly theirs, which quietly solves the usual confusion at a table where everyone is eating the same thing.

Dessert size, which is the right place for a busy pattern — a dessert is small, so the bowl is most of what is being looked at. The same pattern on a dinner plate would be covered by food.

• Patterned inside and out: most bowls are plain inside
• Interesting while eaten from: and when empty on the table
• Six motifs: each guest's bowl is visibly theirs
• Dessert size: where a busy pattern belongs
• Ceramic: everyday, not display
• Dishwasher safe: for daily use
