Towels & Linens
Cotton towels and cellulose dishcloths: waffle and jacquard bath towels, embroidered face towels, and printed Swedish dishcloths.
What is a Swedish dishcloth?
Cellulose and cotton, pressed flat and stiff until wet. One absorbs many times its weight, washes in a machine, and replaces roughly a dozen rolls of paper towel before it gives up. They dry hard and flat rather than staying damp, which is why they do not sour.
Why waffle weave on a bath towel?
The open structure holds less water than terry, so it dries far faster and takes up less space on a rail — useful in a bathroom without much air. Terry feels plusher and absorbs more; waffle wins on drying and bulk.
How often should kitchen cloths be changed?
Daily into the wash, in practice. A kitchen cloth left damp is the dirtiest thing on the counter, which is the argument for owning enough of them that the dirty one always goes in the basket rather than back on the tap.
