What makes organza different from a ribbon bow?

Organza is a stiff, sheer weave, so it holds a standing loop without wire and light passes through it rather than stopping at it. That is why an organza bow reads lighter than the same shape in satin and why it photographs well on a gift table. The trade-off is that it shows a crease permanently, so it should be stored flat and not folded.

How many bows do you need for an event?

For gifts, count one per present and add a few spares, since a bow pulled unevenly cannot be reset. For decorating, work in a rhythm rather than per item — every second chair back, or four to six along an archway — which is why the 24-count sets exist.
