White Porcelain Milk Cup Vase
A vase shaped like a milk cup, which means it works whether or not there is anything in it. That is unusual — most vases look like something waiting for flowers.
The straight sides and plain white finish let it hold a single stem without looking under-filled, and they also let it work as a pen pot on a desk, a brush holder on a dressing table or a utensil cup beside a hob. The painted detail is small and hand-applied, so it reads as a made object rather than a moulded one.
Two sizes. The small suits a single stem or a bundle of pencils; the large takes a short arrangement or a handful of brushes. A pair at different heights on one shelf does more than either alone.
- Works empty: a milk cup shape, not an obvious vase
- Straight sides: a single stem does not look lost
- Three jobs: flowers, pens or brushes
- Hand-applied detail: reads as made, not moulded
- Two sizes: a stem and pencils, or a short arrangement
- Pair them: two heights on one shelf
