Velo Ultra-Thin Crystal Martini Glass, 150 ml
One hundred and fifty millilitres is the correct martini measure, and it is smaller than most glasses sold as martini glasses. A drink served at the right volume stays cold to the last mouthful; one served in an oversized bowl goes warm halfway down.
The line is Japanese minimalist — no cut, no etching, no decoration of any kind, so the only thing the eye reads is the silhouette and the liquid in it. That restraint is what makes a thin glass look expensive rather than merely fragile.
Ultra-thin construction keeps it light enough to hold by the stem with two fingers, which is how a chilled drink should be held so a warm hand never reaches the bowl. Hand wash it — a rim this fine does not belong in a dishwasher rack.
- 150 ml: the correct measure, so it stays cold
- No decoration: the silhouette is the whole design
- Ultra-thin: light enough to hold on the stem alone
- Japanese minimalist: restraint rather than ornament
- Stem handling: a warm hand never reaches the bowl
- Crystal: clear, and stays clear
