Rombo Diamond-Cut Wine Goblets, Set of 6
Cut glass does two things at once, and only one of them is decorative. The facets throw light around the bowl, and they also give a hand grip on a glass that is cold and beaded with condensation.
A diamond pattern is the traditional cut for exactly that reason: the ridges run in two directions, so the glass is held securely whichever way it is picked up. Against candlelight the same facets break the flame into points across the table, which is why cut glass still appears at dinners that could afford plain.
Six is a table. They suit red wine, cognac, champagne or whiskey — the bowl is generous enough for a swirl and the stem short enough to hold the glass by the body if you prefer.
