Cat-Themed Birthday Party Kit, 31 pc

A cat-themed party kit for a child's birthday, with printed paper plates as the centrepiece of the setting. Thirty-one pieces is a small-party count — enough for a table of children rather than a hall.

Themed paper tableware does one useful thing: it makes the table the decoration, so the room needs almost nothing else. A printed plate at every place reads as a decorated party even on a bare table, which is the whole reason these kits exist.

Paper, so it goes in the bin at the end rather than into a sink. For a children's party that is not a compromise — nobody wants to hand-wash thirty plates after a birthday.

If the guest list is closer to twenty than to ten, buy two kits rather than stretching one — a child without a themed plate notices immediately, and a half-themed table loses the effect entirely.

• Cat and animal print: the plates carry the theme
• 31 pieces: sized for a small table, not a hall
• Paper: straight into the bin afterwards
• The table is the decoration: the room needs little else
• Children's birthdays: the occasion it is built for
• Single use: no washing up
