Wood & Bamboo
Wood and bamboo for serving and organising: acacia boards and platters, utensil caddies, salt and pepper mills, drawer trays and napkin holders.
How should a wooden board be cared for?
Hand wash, dry immediately on its edge, and never leave it submerged or put it in a dishwasher — wood warps and splits when it soaks and then dries fast. Oil it occasionally with a food-safe mineral oil when the surface starts to look dry.
Is wood safe for raw food?
Yes, with the usual separation. A sealed hardwood surface is no less hygienic than plastic provided it is washed and dried properly; the risk comes from deep knife scoring that stays damp. Keep one board for raw meat and another for everything else.
Acacia or bamboo?
Acacia is a dense hardwood with visible grain, heavier and better suited to serving and cutting. Bamboo is a grass, lighter and more uniform, and works better for drawer organisers and trays where weight is a nuisance.
